“…and they went out…” – They left where they were. They left their position. This is a call to action to “leave” and “get out” to go & preach… the place we are leaving is a place where we have been feeding and being empowered. It’s a call to a higher level. The current system of careers after education is based upon this wisdom. After sitting under a master and a teacher, we are sent out to the world to use our expertise and knowledge to serve. 👌🏽
“… preached everywhere…”: We are expected to preach the gospel everywhere. Think about it. At home, at school, on our way to work, at the airport lounge, at the cafeteria… everywhere! The word of God needs to reach everyone, everywhere & as fast as possible. In our context, social media is one of the “everywhere” & by God’s grace & wisdom, it has accelerated & made it easy to obey that command.
“… the Lord working with them…”: The Lord was and has been working with those who went before us. The Lord works with us. He is calling us to go in obedience, and He will work with us. All this preaching, all this healing, all these and other activities are not done without God’s approval & backing. He is there with us. For empowerment, encouragement, direction & guidance. This is a word of encouragement that, as you go out to do what the Lord has sent you out to do, He is with you all the way. Also, to mean we are not superstars out there, no. We are only vessels working for the master & with the master.
“… confirming the word by the accompanying signs …” To Confirm means to ‘establish the truth or correctness of something.’ To mean that when the word of God is preached, or where the word of God is preached, miracles, signs & wonders, will be seen or will come to establish/ prove/ validate/ strengthen/ verify … that what is in the Bible/ Scriptures/ Word of God is correct. Please note here that it doesn’t prove the overall/ general correctness of a “”Preacher””” or “”powerful man of God””” or a “”mighty man of God”” Miracles prove the correctness of The Word. Ie. Healing. “By His stripes you are healed!” We see healings in meetings a lot. This is one example among many.
As we have read the word today. May the Lord confirm His Word today by healing someone reading this now & badly in need of healing. Same chapter in verse 17: “And these signs will accompany those who believe…”
Father in the name of Jesus, your word is life and alive, I speak healing over anyone reading this and whose flesh is unwell. May your power flow through their bodies and may they receive their healing, their perfection, and their wholeness in Jesus name.
